abstract

this paper introduces a novel control methodology based on fuzzy controller for a glucose-insulin regulatory system of type i diabetes patient. first, in order to incorporate knowledge about patient treatment, a fuzzy logic controller is employed for regulating the gains of the basis proportional-integral (pi) as a self-tuning controller. then, to overcome the key drawback of fuzzy logic controller, i.e., the lack of systematic methods to define fuzzy rules and fuzzy membership functions, fuzzy pi controller are optimised by particle swarm optimization with linearly decreasing weight (ldw-pso) algorithm, which is a novel evolutionary computation technique. simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed optimal fuzzy pi controller in terms of accuracy and time margin. this paper introduces a novel control methodology based on fuzzy controller for a glucose-insulin regulatory system of type i diabetes patient. first, in order to incorporate knowledge about patient treatment, a fuzzy logic controller is employed for regulating the gains of the basis proportional-integral (pi) as a self-tuning controller. then, to overcome the key drawback of fuzzy logic controller, i.e., the lack of systematic methods to define fuzzy rules and fuzzy membership functions, fuzzy pi controller are optimised by particle swarm optimization with linearly decreasing weight (ldw-pso) algorithm, which is a novel evolutionary computation technique. simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed optimal fuzzy pi controller in terms of accuracy and time margin

Optimal intelligent control for glucose regulation

This paper introduces a novel control methodology based on fuzzy controller for a glucose-insulin regulatory system of type I diabetes patient. First, in order to incorporate knowledge about patient treatment, a fuzzy logic controller is employed for regulating the gains of the basis Proportional-Integral (PI) as a self-tuning controller. Then, to overcome the key drawback of fuzzy logic contro...

Optimal H∞ insulin injection control for blood glucose regulation in diabetic patients

The theory of optimal control has the feature of minimizing the worst-case gain of an unknown disturbance input. When appropriately modified, the theory can be used to design a “switching” controller that can be applied to insulin injection for blood glucose (BG) regulation. The “switching” controller is defined by a collection of basic insulin rates and a rule that switches the insulin rates f...

Optimal PID Insulin Injection Control For Blood Glucose Regulation in IDDM Patient

This paper address the design of output feedback PID controller to deliver insulin via an implantable micro insulin dispenser for insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) patients. For synthesis of the controller, a 9 order linear state space model of the multivariable nonlinear dynamic glucose insulin process of the IDDM patient has been used. The performance of the resulting controller was ...

A New Optimal Solution Concept for Fuzzy Optimal Control Problems

In this paper, we propose the new concept of optimal solution for fuzzy variational problems based on the possibility and necessity measures. Inspired by the well–known embedding theorem, we can transform the fuzzy variational problem into a bi–objective variational problem. Then the optimal solutions of fuzzy variational problem can be obtained by solving its corresponding biobjective variatio...

Intelligent optimal control with dynamic neural networks

The application of neural networks technology to dynamic system control has been constrained by the non-dynamic nature of popular network architectures. Many of difficulties are-large network sizes (i.e. curse of dimensionality), long training times, etc. These problems can be overcome with dynamic neural networks (DNN). In this study, intelligent optimal control problem is considered as a nonl...
